ANEW2, July 25: Telling Our Story

A big thanks to the Rev. Dr. Jeanine Driscoll of St. Thomas of Canterbury in Albuquerque. She led an interesting and inspirational discussion of Story-the stories we tell ourselves and how stories and songs impact and inspire our story.
She offered an exercise to help us explore pieces of our story in a more thoughtful way--instead of just reacting to events.
You can view the video of the event (with apologies for missing the first minute or 2 of her talk, and for a bit of choppiness due to having to edit out the exits into and returns from the breakout rooms on Zoom).

In the breakout rooms, we shared a favorite, or impactful scripture story and song or poem, using these questions:
  • At this point, in the story which is your life, which scripture story or passage is resonating for you?
  • What is it about that story or passage which resonates, which speaks to you?
  • Why does this song speak to you?
  • Why do you suppose it gets your heart singing along?

You can find some of our favs in this document. Also included is the sermon by Jeanine from July 19 on Congressman John Lewis which she graciously shared. You can also watch it on the St. Thomas of Canterbury Facebook page
