All You Need is Love

Women's Ministry gathered on Zoom for a refreshing time of music and reflection on Feb. 27. Linda Rounds-Nichols led the group through a series of love songs from various genres and decades. Participants were encouraged to write, rest, doodle, sing along, or just enjoy thinking of Jesus singing the words of these so-called secular songs. Linda developed a complete story of God's love that you can watch here:

Pat Green shared the image she made while listening to and resting in the words of the songs. Others shared that the morning was eye-opening and that we'll never listen to the songs in the same way.

ANEW2: July 25: Telling our Story

July 25: Telling Our Story (the Rev. Jeanine Driscoll, St. Thomas of Canterbury, ABQ)
We'll explore the stories we tell about ourselves in the context of scripture and contemporary music. Please bring to the conversation a scripture story or passage which resonates for you as well as a popular or contemporary song or piece of music which speaks to you or energizes you. Poetry is totally acceptable.

Email Cindy to receive the link for this event. (If you have participated in other ANEW2 events, you'll automatically get the link.)

Music is worship

Today, I offer some links to various musical offerings to inspire and refresh your soul.
St. Augustine is attributed with saying "He who sings prays twice."
Here are a group of Nashville artists singing "It is Well with My Soul", via the magic of technology.

The Cathedral of St. John musicians are posting daily videos of music offerings on YouTube

Here is Mahalia Jackson singing "My Faith Looks up to Thee".

The Magnificat by Polyphony: Voices of NM with setting by Mary Badarak.

Even the birds are getting in on the act-Bird Song Opera.

A Mennonite choir singing "We are Not Alone" is beautiful. (I'd never heard the song before, but it's worth a listen.)

Assorted songs by John Michael Talbot can be found on YouTube.

Several folks are participating in #quaranTUNEchallenge

If you have found some especially inspiring music, feel free to share it.
