We shared in worship, in quiet time, in reflecting in small groups and all together. We built and renewed friendships. We learned and were inspired by our time together.
Characteristics of Women of Valor and Worth were identified on Friday night. The list was extensive: Perseverence, Humility, Faith, Honest, Kindness, Righteous, Flexible, Selflessness, Courage, Consistency, Persistence, Steadfast, Integrity, Attuned, Determination, Loyalty, Love, Single-mindedness, Confidence, Compassion,Empathy, Charity, Tenacity, Long-suffering, Truth-bearer, Opennes, Value, Acceptance, Humor.
Women who we identified on Friday as portraying the characteristics of Valor and Worth included Teachers, Moms, Those working on the front lines, Women working with the exploited such as the Street Safe leaders, food pantry workers, Deb Haaland, Dorothy Day, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Sister Reachel Hosmer, Pauli Murray, Elaine Wilson, Mother Teresa, Hildegard of Bingen, Julian of Norwich, Hilda of Whitby, Malala, Greta Thunberg, Eleanor Roosevelt, Our daughters, Bible women, Female relatives and friends.
On Saturday morning members of the Women's Ministry Council presented 5 women during the morning worship: Hildegard of Bingen, Dolores Huerta, Thea Bowman, Evelyn Underhill, and Margaret Bullitt-Jonas. You can read about these women.
Bishop Katharine gave two interesting and thought-provoking talks, even sharing some new scholarship about women in the Bible like Mary and Martha. You can watch the video of her talks and you can do your own research from her bibliography.
