Lent Book Club: We are Becoming

In Lent you are invited to join a weekly Zoom study on the Lord's Prayer. We are using that as a starting point for discussions about "Becoming a Church that Looks and Acts like Jesus". This is an ongoing initiative by the Episcopal Church to look at ways of living, being and worshipping to 'reclaim our Christian identity as a Spirit-driven countercultural, underground movement'.

We'll use The Lord's Prayer: Walk in Love by Cynthia Davis as well as other resources about the Lord's Prayer (see below).

Contact Cindy Davis for the link.

Books (which you don't have to have in hand, but which are available on Amazon) include:
The Lord's Prayer, Walk in Love (Cynthia Davis)- available from Cindy Davis and Amazon
The Praying Life (Deborah Smith Douglas) - Amazon
Prayers of the Cosmos (Neil Douglas-Klotz) - Amazon
The Lord & His Prayer (N.T. Wright) - Amazon
The Great House of God (Max Lucado) - Amazon

And mark your calendar for the Lent retreat (details available mid-February)

March 26: Lent retreat with the Rev. Patty Soukup (St. Luke’s, La Union & Zoom)
Focusing on how women are uniquely qualified to share wisdom with each other. How we can take care of the details (like wills, etc.) that can distract so that we ARE free to be leaders and wise women.

Books, Books, Books

Books for Tohajille

Donations of books for the children of Tohajille was a project that came out of our first ANEW2 Zoom gathering in April. Rita Pino-Vargas suggested it as a way to support children who don't have many books. Summer is an important time for children to have books! We all know that the school year was cut short and many children will have lost much of what they learned by fall. Continuing to read is one way to help.
As restrictions on meeting to collect donations still continue Women's Ministry will collect funds, which will then be used to purchase books.
If you want to participate in this collection monetarily, you can easily make a donation via the PayPal button below.  Note that the company name will show up as Footprints from the Bible.

You can also send your donation to Cindy Davis, Diocesan Coordinator of Women's Ministry. Please be sure the check is made out to the diocese and labeled for Book Collection in the memo.

Donate any amount to Books for Tohajille by clicking the button below.

NM Interfaith Dialogue Highlights book by Vicki Reder: Three Paths, One God: Traditional Scriptures and Prayers

It's too late to join the Zoom conference on June 18, but it isn't too late to get and use this great prayer resource by Vicki Reder of the Cathedral, Min Kantrowitz a Jewish Rabbi, and Aamna Navyar (Muslim).

"Three paths, One God.  Jewish, Christian, Muslim. Scripture, liturgy, and contemporary prayer. Three women, each following her faith, praying and seeking, marking times of our days, celebrating the unfolding of our lives, pursuing sacred paths toward God..."
As active practitioners of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, the authors recognize the power of religious belief and practice in our lives.
Purchase the book on Amazon, or contact Vicki.

Book Release Announcement

Cindy Davis is delighted to announce the release of her latest book: The Lord's Prayer: Walk in Love. In a departure from earlier works, this devotional with study questions looks at the very familiar Lord's Prayer as a way to live more fully into the Presiding Bishop's Way of Love, and work together to become the Beloved Community.
Cindy plans a release party and retreat event later when we can gather together. In the meantime, watch for information about a virtual 7 or 8 week study based on this book that will start later this summer!
You can get the book on Amazon, or from Cindy.
