ANEW2 on May 22: Mothers and Mentors

On May 22 Mother Jan Hosea, currently at St. Andrew's in Las Cruces, led our discussion of Mothers and Mentors. Using Biblical pairs like Sarai and Hagar, Ruth and Naomi, Elizabeth and Mary, Rachel and Leah we considered how differing dynamics in relationships affect the way we mentor and mother one another. As women of faith, we are called to mentor, and even sometimes mother, the women in our lives.

You can watch the video of the gathering.

Join us on June 26 for a discussion led by the Rev. Pat Green and the Rev. Dan Tuton about Coming Back from COVID. We'll explore the changes, concerns, fears, and losses that impact our outlook about returning to life and community.

Start thinking about who, in your parish or your neighborhood, you might invite to PICNIC (Partners in Christ; Neighbors in Community)! This gathering on July 24 will be via Zoom AND in small groups at your church or your home! We'll have some games, we'll learn to roast marshmallows over candles to make mini S'Mores, and other fun things.

Further on in 2021:

August 28: Worship in Dance (the Rev. Sylvia Miller-Mutia)
September 10-12: ECW Prov. 7 Fall Gathering (OK City & via Zoom)
October 23: Humor in Religion (Camille Donoghue) send your thought provoking religious jokes to Camille or to Cindy!
Nov. 13 or 20: Our Wise Women Heroes, Annual Fall Weekend Retreat. In person and via Zoom (led by Women's Ministry council members)
December 11: Christmas Party

MOM--ANEW2 for May 22

"MOM"
with the Rev. Jan Hosea
ANEW2 on May 22

Invite your friends to the Women’s Ministry Zoom gathering on May 22 at 10AM for a fun exploration of biblical women who were moms and/or mentors to other women. Join in to learn what the relationships of Elizabeth and Mary, Naomi and Ruth, Leah and Rachel, Sarah and Hagar can teach us. With the Rev. Jan Hosea we'll consider how we also are and can be mentors and moms (biological or not) to those with whom we interact. Contact Cindy Davis (CynthiaDavisAuthor@gmail.com) for the Zoom Link to join via computer or phone.   (If you have participated in the past, you'll get the link.)

Remember, you can still join the One Book One Diocese study of Presiding Bishop Curry's book Love is the Way. Participants will read 2 chapters/month then meet via Zoom to discuss insights and inspiration. Meetings will be the 4th Thursday of each month at 6:30PM.

Watch the first installment of the interview with Bishop Curry about the book on Facebook or here.

May 27 we will discuss chapters 3 and 4.
